When Beethoven began composing his twelfth symphony in the summer of 1831, he was already dead. This presented an obstacle. But not an insurmountable one.

Flash forward to 1961, the Bay of Pigs incident. With the fourth and final movement still incomplete, B. decided to chuck the whole thing, and began decomposing.

Which left quite an impression on one certain young fetus.

43 years later, Ron (i.e. the fetus, a.k.a. "Roadkill") plays guitar in Ludwig's Van. Of course, some of the details between fetushood and band membership have been omitted, but you can fill in the blanks with your own thoughts, which are probably infinitely more interesting and tawdry than reality.

Along the way, Ron learned to play organ (please, no puerile jokes) and trumpet, how to compose and go to college for 12 years while getting advanced degrees in music, and how to get hired at a dotcom shortly after the bubble had burst. There were stints in foreign prisons, explicit relationships with celebrities, a brief endenturement in the Mauritanian navy (don't ask), and a mercifully short career as congressional whip.

And then there was a little of the Ludwig's Van. Four young and shining lads with a shared dream: world domination of the breakfast cereal market through music.

But that's a new and unfolding chapter of the story.
